Screen and back are in perfect condition as it has been kept in a case since new. However, it has developed a fault which leaves a 2 inch grey stripe permenantly across the middle of the screen, but the touchscreen itself still works. (Seems quite a common fault according to Apple forums). This is the only thing wrong with it, everything else works perfectly. I was going to buy a new digitiser and change it myself, but decided to upgrade to an iPad 3 instead.
